Description: These are McLeods Tables on Oban, it was foul weather that day, we nearly lost our tent to the wind, and although I could not get a fine capture of the tables the sky looked good and as I was passing the house I thought it would make an appropriate compromise. What do you think? This is not just directed at Zebedee!!!

Description: We have been assigned a theme entitled "Hands" for our camera club---so of course I have been madly photographing everyones hands that I can find. This weekend in Victoria BC---artisans were working at the harbour and this fellow was working with a soft white soapstone---his hands were almost bleached white with the wet paste it was making and as he sat there and explained what he was doing, I caught his hands at rest like this----in colour there is a lot of blue background against the white but I was quite happy with the b/white ----actually greyscale in the mode section of Adobe---I will post later what he was working on--- Lynne

Description: Hi everyone - this is Mcleods Tables North and South on Skye. It's been blazing hot and sunny all week so had some really hash light for photos. Mum and I tackled the North Table (the right one) on Friday walking from Glendale up between the two tables then over the North one - around 14 miles, the distance was fine, the terrain was really hard, with bogs and knee high heather most of the way!! Hard work on the legs!! Thanks Paula

Description: Red Arrows display team doing one of their close formation flypast and rolls at Duxford air display. Only 8 of the 9 aircraft were able to take part as one had to return to base with some mechanical problem. Still brilliant. Feet from one another, speed and rolling in sync...then powering into the sky. Simply the best.

Description: Funny for such a hot and sunny day over this long weekend---the wind suddenly blew whitecaps all over the sea and I found this old seat which I was using as a foreground for a lighthouse behind it in the distance and this dog came over to watch me setting up my tripod and he ended up the better image-----Lynne

Description: I don't know what I did but when I saved the original image after having used Picasa I discovered that the original picture was now this picture. I took this image in the same bus shelter as the ...burger joint in the rain... image except now we are dealing with the cold of winter (the air temperature this day was -23C with a windchill of -33C) rather than just a cold rain. I made use of the auto level effect in CS2 and the picture took on a metallic feel which I appreciate. I must apologize for the small size of this posting but a search for the original and the original of a number of other pictures taken during late 2006 and early 2007 has revealed that I had forgotten to save them to a CD and deleted them from my computer. December 6, 2007

Description: Its amazing that sometimes you need to see things through other peoples eyes in order to see a new perspective. This is a close up of an eye run through the Fractalius filter. I was originally going to post just one, then someone said "why not put them together and contrast one with the other, one looks good and one looks evil". Now loathe that I am to admit it, but actually this was better than my original idea......

Description: From Thrigby Wildlife Park. The snow leopards there are part of an international breeding campaign (they have had great success breeding Amur Leopards as well). The strange thing is that although they have a good sized enclosure they spend a lot of their time curled up on top of their sleeping compartments, noses pressed up against the bars. PP work to darken the bars to accentuate them a little

Description: Thought about calling it "chicken" but there is nothing chicken about these guys. Taken yesterday at Duxford Battle of Britain display. I last saw the Red arrows display team as a kid just after they first started...nothing has changed. I am still in awe of them..brilliant display. Tried to follow focus on the right hand plane and take the shot at the right time to create a tension between the two. Trying to estimate where they will cross was not easy. I deliberately cropped to leave the smoke trails streaking across the frame but nothing really captures the speed they were travelling at. Fantastic.

Description: This image was taken the first time that I visited San Francisco ever so many years ago and I fell in love with the city and I remember sitting there until finally the whole city went completely dark and there was only the lights of the Golden Gate Bridge itself and the headlights of the cars. And for many years after that I had San Francisco as a destination and I'll always have San Francisco and the wonderful memories of the weeks that I spent there wandering the streets and seeing the sights and the people of the city. In PS in channel mixer in the green output channel I set red, green, blue to 0%, then in channel mixer in the red output channel I set red to 50% and green and blue to 0%. I then heightened contrast to +30 and finally I used equalize with opacity set at 100% and the mode set to luminosity. One could further adjust in the red channel and have just a blue image but I like the contrast between the blue and purple in the posted image. Kodachrome 64 November 11, 1977

Description: Australian Crested Dove (Ocyphaps lophotes). In Australia, it is referred to as the crested pigeon, while the indigenous people Down Under called this bird the topknot pigeon. I've never been down under, so the San Antonio Australian Bird Exhibit had to do. I encourage anyone who lives in this great state of Texas to make a point of visiting the place. They have multiple open air bird exhibits, and have a done a good job of creating some natural settings. F/5.6, 1/250th, ISO 800, Canon 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x ext, No flash. Filtered light through a canopy, partly cloudy. Monopod for support.

Description: Here the male's not in a very good mood, and has just pushed the doe away. On close inspection, one can see blood on the young bucks forehead & RT antler.. Growing antlers are covered with a living tissue called velvet. During development, the deer's antlers are very delicate and extremely sensitive to the touch. This is also the time when most antler damage or breakage occurs.

Description: We made a day trip to the mountains today. Mid-60 degrees F along the Davidson River after yesterday's upper 90's in my midlands city was very welcome. These small scenes along the small dark stream replenish my soul. Wisdom says "expose to the right because lightening the image in PP reveals noise." Other wisdom says, long exposures increase noise. So, which is the better guide to clean images?

Description: Taken on a vist in April this year a view of the castle from the side not the usual view but a view across the moat to the court yard and house entrence and ruins of the hall Scotney Castle is in Kent and is a NT property worth a visit if you are in the area there's the 14 century castle in the valley and at the top of the hill is a Victorian Mannor House and some nice gardens in between

Description: Walking in the Pine woods from Holkom to Wells-next-the-sea, just behind the beach I came across this decaying log or tree stump that had been used as a feeding perch for a Squirrel whist eating the nuts from Pine cones. As usual I was attracted to the variety of textures and colours in the remains of from its lunch / the tree stump and surounding pine needles. Close focus, hand held PS work crop to squarish format slight increase in saturation

Description: There was a steady drizzle of rain coming down when we stopped in Hackberry, Arizona, at the Hackberry General Store. the grounds were covedred with old vintage cars that were in various stages of rust. this one looked to be the oldest. I loved the little sire attached to the steering wheel to keep the door from swinging open.
