Description: These are McLeods Tables on Oban, it was foul weather that day, we nearly lost our tent to the wind, and although I could not get a fine capture of the tables the sky looked good and as I was passing the house I thought it would make an appropriate compromise. What do you think? This is not just directed at Zebedee!!!

Description: We have been assigned a theme entitled "Hands" for our camera club---so of course I have been madly photographing everyones hands that I can find. This weekend in Victoria BC---artisans were working at the harbour and this fellow was working with a soft white soapstone---his hands were almost bleached white with the wet paste it was making and as he sat there and explained what he was doing, I caught his hands at rest like this----in colour there is a lot of blue background against the white but I was quite happy with the b/white ----actually greyscale in the mode section of Adobe---I will post later what he was working on--- Lynne

Mcleods Tables

Description: Hi everyone - this is Mcleods Tables North and South on Skye. It's been blazing hot and sunny all week so had some really hash light for photos. Mum and I tackled the North Table (the right one) on Friday walking from Glendale up between the two tables then over the North one - around 14 miles, the distance was fine, the terrain was really hard, with bogs and knee high heather most of the way!! Hard work on the legs!! Thanks Paula

Description: Funny for such a hot and sunny day over this long weekend---the wind suddenly blew whitecaps all over the sea and I found this old seat which I was using as a foreground for a lighthouse behind it in the distance and this dog came over to watch me setting up my tripod and he ended up the better image-----Lynne

Description: Taken afew weeks ago in my front garden. This house sparrow perched on the branch and in my mind said "Go on then, take a pic." The pic. is cropped only, otherwise untouched. Is there need for further cropping?

Description: This image was taken the first time that I visited San Francisco ever so many years ago and I fell in love with the city and I remember sitting there until finally the whole city went completely dark and there was only the lights of the Golden Gate Bridge itself and the headlights of the cars. And for many years after that I had San Francisco as a destination and I'll always have San Francisco and the wonderful memories of the weeks that I spent there wandering the streets and seeing the sights and the people of the city. In PS in channel mixer in the green output channel I set red, green, blue to 0%, then in channel mixer in the red output channel I set red to 50% and green and blue to 0%. I then heightened contrast to +30 and finally I used equalize with opacity set at 100% and the mode set to luminosity. One could further adjust in the red channel and have just a blue image but I like the contrast between the blue and purple in the posted image. Kodachrome 64 November 11, 1977

Description: We made a day trip to the mountains today. Mid-60 degrees F along the Davidson River after yesterday's upper 90's in my midlands city was very welcome. These small scenes along the small dark stream replenish my soul. Wisdom says "expose to the right because lightening the image in PP reveals noise." Other wisdom says, long exposures increase noise. So, which is the better guide to clean images?

Vintage Rust

Description: There was a steady drizzle of rain coming down when we stopped in Hackberry, Arizona, at the Hackberry General Store. the grounds were covedred with old vintage cars that were in various stages of rust. this one looked to be the oldest. I loved the little sire attached to the steering wheel to keep the door from swinging open.

Description: This is one of my favourite captures of the year so far. I didn't have to do much except take it. It is at Trimpley Reservoir in Worcestershire where I live. I was walking around the rezzer on a dull day and saw this group of plants. I moved around until the bottom left was filled and swirled up to the right and curved back across to top left and took the shot. It is so natural and undisturbed but seemed to grab me. The greens are amazing and varied and one of the main reasons I like the capture so much.

Description: The Tamar River is one of the major estuary systems of the southern Australian marine faunal region. It is the estuary of the North Esk and South Esk Rivers which combine at Launceston, over 63 km from Low Head, where it enters Bass Strait. It is tidal for its whole length, with a 3.5-metre tide occurring twice a day in Launceston. Despite its name, the river is not technically a river but is estuarine. It is saline and tidal over its entire length. It has inherited 200 years of man's interference, reclaimed mudflats, river diversion, a hydro dam and dumping of sewage and drainage have all taken a toll on the river. In 1833 ships of 400 tons could anchor in the main channel. For many years, ocean going shipping used the river to obtain access to the Port of Launceston located in the city centre. The Port of Launceston is now located at Bell Bay, some 40 kilometres (25 mi) by road from the city, on the east bank of the Tamar estuary, close to its mouth. In an effort to maintain some shipping in the Tamar dredging is undertaken in this part of the river with the aim of keeping the main channel open. 30,000 cu m of silt is currently pumped from the river per year. Local, state and federal governments continually argue as to who is actually responsible for the state of the estuary.

Description: I am going back over old images---this was from the Devon Cornwall trip---I think if I remember correctly Morwellan Quay was just over the border into Cornwall----it is a reproduced fishing village----I just love Britain for photography---so much there to see and get images of---I guess it's a case of the grass is always greener on the other side, as I know B.C. Canada does have it's stunning beauty----this was not an easy one, as I had a lot of shadows and highlights and I have had to crop in real tight---it also looks far better imo in black and white than in the white and yellow colour it was---lynne

Description: Feathers and steel, 04-05 ????? 2010 This is the b&w version of another Dimensional scan. I have always liked this version because I know it does work. One basic rule I like to practice is 99.5% of the time the term sharpen is not applied. When I do sharpen it is an area that was not quite in true focus and very light. The Dof drops off real fast with scans just like a micro lens. Let me say this, 4 weeks ago I receive an e mail telling me I was one of four artist picked by a panel unknown to me. To show six new pieces at Penn State U on September 20th -23rd. Then between October 3rd to the 30th The State Capital, Pa. in the Rotunda room. I have never gone to and opening before I find them a bore when I went with another artist other than the food. I�m seriously thinking of going to this one. I�m thinking its photo time. Carl

Serpentine Fence at The Forks

Description: I find the coloring of the Manitoba Children's Museum and the fencing that surrounds it quite appealing. I particularly like the flow of the fence which works to lead the eyes of the viewer through the image. The buildings on the right were formerly part of the Canadian National Terminal and are now market and museum. The steel armatures seen in the distance form a circle around the Oodean Celebration Circle (Oodena, Cree for centre of the city, features ethereal sculptures, a sundial, interpretive signage, a naked eye observatory and a ceremonial fire pit, making it a desirable venue for Aboriginal and cultural celebrations). The gaps between the monoliths align with solstice and equinox sunrises and sunsets. Steel armatures mounted on the monoliths define precise sightlines for visitors to view specific stars. In CS2 I used shadow highlight and levels. Picture taken January 20, 2006 (with an air temperature of -14C).

Description: Taken on a recent trip to Venice with my friend Vic and our wives.I hope it shows the life style of this wonderful place,the people you see were going to work but life seemed somewhat at a slower pace than ours. Also notice how clean the pathways are .. hardly any litter / chewing gum etc .

Description: I have posted images of this iconic church before, it was saved from a watery grave when the reservoir you see was constructed in the early 70s.The valley was flooded so volunteers took the church down brick by brick and rebuilt it above the waterline. No longer used for worship and has been transformed into a museum. Before anyone says "the tower is leaning a little" it does naturally :)

Description: I have been playing with textures and layers----I have a few textures that I paste on top of an image and then play with opacity or blending modes to see what happens---some work---some don't---this one is an overlay----the original photograph was never anything special but I was quite happy with this end result----fun-----Lynne
