This is another first for me and I have to confess once again I had direction for Miles. Even after he had steered me in the right direction, it has still taken me days to get this to this point. He did a rough one in like (5 seconds that still looks better than mine), but I am learning. Thanks once again for your help and patience Miles. As you can see most of our coloured leaves are down, leaving just a hint of colour here and there. I did not have my tripod with me and we were far out in the back country, so crouched on a pointy rock, this was the slowest I could go to. 1/60s@f10 ISO 100

12 comments Wanda Sun, 25 Oct 2009 07:19:48 -0600 Alpaca http://www.perfectlycaptured.com/showphoto.php?photo=6372

by: Wanda

Description: And you thought you were having a bad hair day? My thanks to Brian Riff who was so kind to take the time to educate us on these animals as well as let us in closer to them. This of course is The Vatican. No trip to Italy would be complete with out getting to see this famous place. I took this from the top of a tour bus, as the ones from the ground could not capture the magnitude that I felt on seeing it for the first time. Personally I did not like Rome and the fact that the Pope was returning that day, so there were sirens and police every where, along with the millions of people, did not help how I felt. I did not edit out people and the top of the van or the big screen, as it really is part of how it looks all the time. This is nothing too exciting but I thought I would take the chance to show you how the sun looks each day from my house. No two days are ever the same and it changes moment too moment. In the field there are three sets of mother deer, that we know of and maybe more. The new born fawns are about the size of a large house cat right now, so you can see how easy they are to hide in the grass. Yet for almost seven hundred years the buildings constituted one of the principal residences of the kings and emperors of France. Built shortly after 1190 by King Philippe Auguste as a defensive fortress, by the 14th century the Palais du Louvre had become a pleasant residence that occasionally served as a royal home. Francis I chose to turn it into a Renaissance "palace". Over time, a royal estate gradually developed. Henry IV ordered the château built by Catherine de Médicis in the Tuileries to be linked to the Louvre palace by a "grand gallery" bordering the Seine. Louis XIV, who resided at the Louvre until his departure for Versailles in 1678, completed the Cour Carrée (Square Court), which was closed off on the city side by a colonnade. When the court moved to Versailles, French monarchs lost interest in the Palais du Louvre. In 1793, the Louvre became a museum, and has been given over ever since to the conservation and presentation of thousands of artworks and legacies of past civilizations. In the early 19th century, sovereigns transformed the interiors but carried out little building work. But from the mid-19th century onward, the Louvre underwent the largest phase of extension in its history. Napoleon III completed the unification of the Palais des Tuileries and the Palais du Louvre by building the Aile Denon (Denon wing) on the Seine side and finishing the Aile Richelieu on the rue de Rivoli side. In 1871, the Palais des Tuileries burned down. Thenceforth, the Louvre opened onto the great perspective facing western Paris. The Grand Louvre project, launched by President François Mitterand in 1981, modernized the museum and extended it, with the opening in 1993 of the Richelieu wing, which formerly housed the Ministry of Finance."* ISO 125 1/100@f20 *Louvre

10 comments Wanda Sat, 30 May 2009 05:40:11 -0600 An impression of Rome http://www.perfectlycaptured.com/showphoto.php?photo=3750

by: Wanda

Description: This is a shot I took of one of the many streets that were crammed full of these bikes.
