I learned the basics of photography a long time ago with a Pentax K1000 but I didn't have my own camera. So I didn't pratice very much. Without the possibility to have my own dark room, I did not push to buy my own camera. Around 2005 I won a Canon PowerShot A85. That was my chance to give another try since today's dark room are softwares. Working in the computer world, I use to be at ease with softwares. In early 2008, I acquired a Nikon D80 and enjoy doing photography with more flexibility.
The main sofware I use are Capture NX and Gimp. The later working a lot like Photoshop but is free and is available for the three main platform : Windows, MacIntosh & Unix. I use to work on two of them (not McInstosh  ).
I still have a lot of things to learn about photography and image manipulation (among other things) and I like to experiment a lot. I hope some of my postings will be appreciated by my fellow members.
I want to say that I am open to all kind of comments when they are not offensive. I even want to know if you dislike some of my pictures but I also want to know why... This is one of the ways I learn.
On my side, I will do the same for your pictures and if you disagree with some of my comments, please, feel free to let me know.
Please, keep in mind that english is not my primary language and my vocabulary to describe what I see and my feelings about it is continually evolving.
