It was fun to see all the dads and moms together with their young kids enjoying a rare day off during the week of no school or work due to the heavy snow (for us anyway). I set up about a 1/3 of the way down the hill kneeling to get an eye level shot of their faces as they raced by.

Your choice of shooting position works well creating the feel that the viewer is right there at the same level as the pair coming down the hill on the sled. And once again the facial expressions are priceless. Great shot Gary to capture what I would imagine is something that doesn't happen too often in your part of the world.

You can't even find sleds sold here in South Carolina! As Jan said (doesn't he always beat everyone to it), good low position. I might have preferred a bit off to the side to get daughter's full face but you weren't exactly in control of the setting.

Jan- snow is rare. We could easily have a year without any.

Steve- my position was pretty well fixed without getting run over or slidding down the hill. It was nearly solid ice so I kneeled in the powdered snow off the road.

How fun! I don't remember many snow days like this when I lived in Central Arkansas. Really a nice treat! Excellent capture of the joy on their faces. Nice going, Gary.

It's been a long time since I did this. I'd probably break something if I tried it today.

Those were the days.

The look of the proud father with his little princess on his back says it all. These memories will last a liftime.
