As I set up to take the first picture of the day on the walkway to the beach, this couple walked up and scared me. Note to self: be aware of your surroundings. They apologized profusely for scaring me then proceeded down to the beach with their folding chairs and morning drinks-- it didn't look like coffee! If either of us had a pen and paper, I'd have asked them for an e-mail address so I could send them this picture.

It did start off in portrait orientation, but there was a lot of wasted foreground. I cropped from the bottom, then from the top, then settled on this completely reconstructed composition. I also did several adjustments to make the elements I wanted in the frame show up properly. It doesn't have a realistic look but does convey what I intended, down to the size of humans in the overall framework of the world before us.

The Photograqphy Gods certainly were smiling on your shoot at the beech. To have the silhouette of the couple with the water and clouds silhouetted against the orange sky is one thing but to have that moon perfectly centered over the whole vista....WOW! Hope you meet up with that couple again to show them your work....that's definitely a prize capture.

The image is real but it does have an almost alien world feel to it... I think it is probably because most of us never get to see a pre-sunrise view such as this. I like the sense of vastness in the image created by the sky and the small silhouetted couple, the colors in the morning sky with the lightness of the moon further enhancing that coloring and the sense of peacefulness that is evoked in the setting.

Beautiful capture and well titled. Love the audience and that wide open sky to include the Moon. Well done Steve.

What does photography mean? I've been thinking about that too but a glimpse of the beauty we see around us is enough, this is glorious altho, and I feel bad about altho-ing something as good as this, a crop to make the couple and the moon lest centered would be my temptation.

Very nice image, the sky is so vast it almost goes off the top of the page, but what a lovely colour as it fades into the moon so high above. The two people were lucky to see such a creation and would be honoured to receive the picture if you ever found them.

Earth, moon and the tiny humans in the immense scheme of things.
Well composed. Stunning with that moon in the morning sky.

I have been back to this picture several times; it is very beautiful, but has an 'end of the world' look to me; maybe that's the way the world will end, not with a bang, or a whimper, but with a glorious sunset.
