Eastrn painted turtle very slowly digging her hold in preparation to lay eggs. She would scoop with one back leg, then wait amoment and slowly scoop with the next - a very slow and tedious job.

Beautiful color and patterning on the shell of the Eastern Painted turtle... her laying of the eggs allowed you to get a very clear sharp image.

Nice capture, Steve! I did the same with a painted turtle a few years ago. I was there when she actually put the egg in and then buried it. Are you going to go back on 30 days and try to catch the hatch? Wink

Lovely shot of the turtle; we have quite a few of these here, but I have not been lucky enough to catch them laying their eggs.

You definitely filled the frame with this stop action shot of Mother turtle doing her motherly thing. She has got to be the most patient kind of mom there ever was. Definitely looks like a very slow process.
