Back to Viet Nam for this one----the market at Bac Ha in the north near the Chinese border---bustling, colourful and full of energy---everyone is so alive and happy-----these three friends obviously catching up on lost time------

Wonderful capture of the three gentleman... all three stand out strongly set against their surroundings. I like the sense of companionship that is captured in the image, the clarity of detailing and the mentioned contrast. Unfortunate about the slight blurring of the one man's hand and the intrusion of the hand into the lower right hand corner but hey those are only nits and I find this to be a truly strong image with a near paintlike quality that I really like.

When I saw this as a thumbnail it looked like a painting but once opened it's a cracking image I like the movment of the blokes hand and like Jan the sense of comradeship I also like the faded background on the left at the back of the image I hadn't been to taken with your Vietnam images but this one made up for it! well seen & captured
Best regards

Splendid focus on the three cheerful looking guys making them stand out well against what I see as a stereotypically chaotic background.

They look to be having a good time together. Not sure what effect you used but it really suits the shot, couldn't decide if it was a painting of some sort at first.
Plenty to look at great shot.

Topaz effect works extremely well here!

I remember you sent you me this a couple of months ago to play around with the background. I happily admit you did a better job than I and in such a way as to add to the composition. The topaz effect is similar to that obtained using a strong dose of Nik CFX tonal contrast. It works here to increase the depth of the wrinkles in features and clothes.

Fabulous post processing here, Lynne. Has the look of what a Viet Nam Saturday Evening Post front cover would look like. I very much like how you reduced the background to focus attention on the men having lunch.

Love the effect you used here. The detail in the men's faces and their expressions tells a story. Other detail like the steam coming from the food and hand movements all makes this an image to be proud of.
