The Alcobaça Monastery (also known as St. Mary of Alcobaça) is the first fully gotic workmanship made in Portugal. It was established in 1178 by the monks of Cister’s Order.

The Alcobaça Monastery is consired world wide patrimony by UNESCO, and in July 7th of 2007 was elected one of seven Portugal wonders.

If you come to Portugal, you must go to Alcobaça, a city in the west of Portugal - more or less 100 km from Lisbon -, and spend a beautifull day inside the monastery; you'll not lose your time.

Good morning Jose. I am so pleased to see you here. What a superb shot with a very interesting POV of the vaulted roof. Wonderful clarity and colours with difficult enough light conditions. Joni
