This is about as close to cute n cuddly that I ever got with my ferrets. I had a number of the little creatures for about10 years until 1997.

Christmas shot taken of one of the pet ferrets that I had at the time. I took this picture at Christmas 1996 with Johnny (aka Nipper). It took a little bit of time. I had a small Santa hat but she kept trying to eat it. So I hit on the little bows with a sticky patch on the back and to keep her attention focused on the box in front of her so it looked as if she was opening it I put some raisins in it. If there is anything that ferrets like better in this world than raisins I have never found what it is. You can use raisins to teach the little guys to do tricks and as long as you have a supply of raisins they'll do whatever you want.

An animal I have always wanted but they don't really mix with cats and dogs. Cute Jan and well dressed for the event,

A ferret in a hat! Not something you see everyday. I had one once, years ago, and she was a charming little creature; Johnny is definitely perfect for the theme, well dressed for the occasion and is responding well to bribery!

Wish I could get a ferret but I have too many cats. I also think they are illegal in NYC. Really cute shot, great theme entry.

Dee:

Thank you Dee for viewing and commenting. Very much appreciated.

During my working years I had the ferrets alternatively between my apartment and at work. Someone built a large cage for me at work in which to keep the ferrets (two at the time) and I kept it in my office. The cats at work at varying attitudes to the ferrets ranging from seeing them as something to eat to complete indifference.

I found the ferrets to be perfect apartment animals since they make no noise as a cat or dog might do. The only thing one had to do was ferret proof one's apartment since a ferret can get into nearly anything... very flexible.

I gave up my ferrets in 1997 since I had a back problem at the time and I simply could not look after the ferrets as they should be looked after and of all things I found a ferret rescue organization locally in Winnipeg. Still miss the ferrets and still miss the cats.
