I was driving north along Highway 101 back in the early 1990s when I happened to see the sun starting to set over the Pacific and I thought I would like to get a closeup view of the sun. Drive like a fool up 101 and then west along some side roads until I came to a state park and just managed to catch the sun as it started to dip below the horizon line.

I was just south of the Oregon border in coastal California.

Hi Jan
Brilliant warm colors you have captured in this beautiful scene. Just a suggestion but have you looked at this with a crop from the top to just a bit above the the red tones?

You made it at the perfect time. Very pretty colors.

Lovely subtle feeling to the scene, I feel a little crop off the bottom works for me as the detail is lost a little in the foreground, I feel this image is very strong to the sky and sea.

Both crop suggestions seem reasonable-- as long as you're dealing with a digital image. Such things were not as easily accomplished back in the old days (1990's!) of film and slide. The treatment adds a misty, dreamy effect.

Good job getting there in the nick of time to get the shot.

Caught this sunset at the right moment.
There is a slight softness here that adds to the image, giving the colors a nice glow.

Glad you made it...and just in time. Love the gentle softness - a lovely romantic sunset. Hope you had your best girl with you.

LOvely image Jan, the subtle colours much more meaningful than blazing lurid ones,
