A very Happy Belated Birthday Helen, I was browsing my files from another place and realised I had missed your birthday. The flower a dahlia from City Park here in Launceston, the blooms on this plant are dinner plate size and the plant itself is one of a few in the bed which have multiple stakes to hold the weight of the blooms. The dahlias are just beginning to bloom again; hopefully I can do justice to the garden with my photography.

City Park, the largest and most impressive of Launceston’s many beautiful parks and gardens is within a few minutes walk of the city centre, included in the park is an enclosure for Japanese Macaque monkeys, a gift from the sister-city of Ikeda, Japan.

Developed in the 1820's by Australia's first horticultural society, the park's 13 hectares feature fine Victorian gardens, a troop of Japanese macaques at Monkey Island, a giant chess board, a bandstand and a beautiful conservatory full of exotic hot house plants.

Oh, oh, I also realised that I forgot while being on holiday in Aruba. Last year I asked someone else to upload my birthday wish - Helen, I wish you a wonderful year, this perfect flower sure expresses that happy feeling I hope will be with you all year long.
David, outside it is rainy, grey and cold and seeing this perfect sunny flower is like a boost, warms me right up, thanks,

Exquisite image. My son planted me a dahlia exactly like this and I have never been able to get a decent shot of it. Thank you for posting this. You have perfect exposure and clarity.
