This was taken in 2005 when my fiancee (now my wife) and I went to Egypt. Apart from the craftsmanship, I really like the way the curator lit the statue.

Indeed, you are right, an air of mysterie you captured here - love it. Love the shadows and the perfect details where the light hits the statue.
