When on holiday on the island of Texel, we always visit a garden centre called Eureka, because the owner has a hobby - tropical plants and birds. He created a kind of jungle in the back and this year he had taken in some orphan and wounded baby birds of prey, some can be rehabilitated and those will have not much contact with humans, but some like this owl, can never return to the wild. There are night hunters and day hunters, but it does make no difference, because when you train them that the hunting has to be done in the daytime, they also go to sleep at night.

That one crossed eye keeps catching my attention Els. Makes me smile as it kind of takes away that glower these magnificent birds have. Your detail here is wonderful. Do you know on the larger view I can see a perfect reflection of you taking the shot.. Now how cool is that? The crop gives a very powerful impact to the image. I am just lost in these details, super.

Those eyes were waking up one after another and then the last eye has to do some focussing - it really looks funny when you see that happening.
Yes you can see me in his eyes and that he is sitting in the cage - it was very difficult to make a picture avoiding the wirenetting.
Thanks,
Els

I like the manner in which you filled the image with the owl (both the eyes and the texturing of the plumage jump into prominence), the coloring and patterning of the plumage and the clarity of detailing.

The white bordering brings a completed clean feel to the image.
