I took down from the office wall a small selection of the stringed instruments I have made in the last few years that are gathering dust.
Mountain Dulcimers, small stick dulcimers in various shaped, Dombra...2 strings, long neck, 2 string bow..name of which I forget but you hit the strings and bend the bow making the strings tighter / looser and pressing it against your chin using your mouth as a soundbox..it makes different notes..or you can do the same and bow it.
Red stick dulcimer that is minimal in design and wired for an amp. Cigar box guitar....from a cigar box..
and nope I can't play them but I can make them and yes they do play.....
I have given some away and have others to finish, so many made I have lost count.

Now I have to get the rest down and dust them....arrrgh..

A wonderful collection of stringed instruments Rob which on their own are quite striking but then the additional information that these instruments are crafted by yourself... I always marvel at the ability of individuals to create things of beauty from probably what would have been discarded by someone else. My father had this ability with metal and you have it with these string instruments. I cannot see the weekly theme getting much better than this composition.

You've outstrung us all with this colourful colletion Rob. If that wasn't enough you made them too. I could spit!
So why not learn to play them and complete the treble.

Hi Vic, don't spit it's not nice.....:-)
its strange that I can make them, tune them and understand when they don't sound right but the musical gene didn't just pass me by it missed by a mile....fortunately it got through to our girls and they both make me want to spit...they have that talent that allows then to pick up almost any instrument and play it.....wonderful thing to be able to do,, I am so envious of people who can do that.
So pass the spittoon please.... :-)
