Giant Poppy
My mum grows a wide variety of poppies in their garden but this one is just fantastic.
I have no idea what variety it is but its huge and looks like a giant ball of poppies / tissue paper. it is about 20cm diameter
Was windy so had to try and hold the stem still whilst using the camera on a monopod with the other hand.
Cropped a bit of errant garden away from the background.

I was just out shooting some flowers in my neighbourhood... sure wish I would have come something with the vivid colors and texturing of your giant poppy. I like the sense that I get that one could reach right into the image and feel the softness of the flower. There is the sense of pulling the blankets tight around one on a cold night with your perspective with the opening to the heart of the poppy surrounded by the red petals.

I used to have lots of poppies some of them perennial as I believe this one is whereas the common poppy with a single row of petals is an annual. I have to say though, fields of common poppies can't be beaten for a heartwarming sight.

Now that is special Rob. I haven't seen a poppy like that but I did plant some seeds one year year that produced a vast number of poppies near bread an butter plate size, all the one colour a faint lilac.
