The other side of the market I photographed a few years ago has been demolished to make way for gentrification and modern high priced residences. As usual the affordable housing built into the contract is affordable only to the very well heeled.
Another of London's old, traditional and most loved landmarks and a big draw for tourists has gone and the remainder on this side will no doubt be slowly swallowed up until the very reason for wanting to live in the area has disappeared.

The gentrification of the past and what made that past relevant to a lot of people continues on wherever one goes in the world. The Camden Lock food market as viewed in your image would be an interesting place to have visited just for the canal boats. I have seen this gentrification at work and working on into the future at a favourite location in Vancouver, B.C. at Granville Island before and after the Winter Olympics came to the city in 2010 and the ongoing development (and proposed development) here at Winnipeg at our historic Forks.

Life waits for no man.

Such a shame to hear about the old places, so unique and so attractive to visit with their own special styles get eaten up by the highest bidder. But thanks to you and your camera, those visions will not be lost.

I've not been to Camden Lock personally, but I am aware of the place and reputation. Good shot Vic.
