Last Friday night there was a sense of anticipation in the air that Winnipeg was going to get hit by some stormy weather. Earlier in the day in Alberta a huge tornado touched down with one photograph hitting every daily newspaper the next day across Canada. No injuries and minimal damage.

Maybe ominous would have been a more appropriate title. We were anticipating something similar with record heat for the day and a cool front moving through southern Manitoba. Luckily all we got was a cloud display and lightning strikes to the north of the city.

I had originally planned on a more colorful evening display but this image along with the other pictures I took on Friday night really caught my eye with varying cloud formation.

I think ominous would have been a better title as suggested by David... I really felt that something was going to happen more than a little rain and wind... but it didn't.

Absolutely amazing capture - I'e never seen clouds put on such a spectacular display. Looks to me like the angels in heaven were taking a high powered ride across the sky. Manificent!
