The Masked Rider of the Plains (the Lone Ranger) led the fight for law and order in the early west. I took this capture of the Lone Ranger's Mask that was exhibited in the Smithsonian's National Museum of National History. Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels were the stars of the ABC television show "The Lone Ranger" (1949-1957).

I had always wondered if the Lone Ranger was an actual historical figure. A Google search doesn't really clarify that but tends more towards the Long Ranger and Tonto being the invention of a fertile imagination. Whatever the case the Lone Ranger was a tale I followed on radio and then early tv as I grew up.

A show I watched religiously when TV first came about in Western Australia. Thanks for the memories Diane,

As a lad I followed the adventures of the Lone Ranger. This mask is a reminder!
