A stretch of heat had me searching my files for a cool setting and I found this image which was taken in the far east of Montana on a truly cold day in November 1996. I was on my way back to Winnipeg from a drive to the coast and I had to take a break at a rest stop after driving what seemed like hours on sheets of ice that passed for highways..

There was nothing but ice and snow no matter where I looked and it felt as if we had entered another ice age. I checked the temperatures in this part of Montana and in Glendive it reached 92F Monday afternoon.

When I look at your photo the word FRIGID is what pops into my mind. We have had record high temperatures the last few days here in Missouri with temps topping out at a high of 108 with humidity in the high 80's, so your photo was a welcome view of the opposite.

So large an area of Ice and snow making up this landscape does indeed make me shiver!

A trifle warm at 92 Jan. Some of Tasmania has looked like this for the last few weeks. A nicely detailed and composed photo,
