The statue recognises Dr William Russ Pugh MD (1805-1897) who in 1847 performed a surgical procedure where anaesthesia was used.

I have never achieved a decent photo from the front of this statue, large oaks surround and fill this park and cast too much shade.

An unusual placement for the statue... brings a life like quality to it as if the gentleman was going for a walk through the park.

Most unusual perspective but very effective. Gives the feeling like this gentleman is about to take a walk through the lovely park. The diagonal lines of the walkway draw my eye in and around this capture very effectively.

Excellent shot, unusual viewpoint which works well in conjunction with the surrounding paths.
