One of the world's first metal ships to be built - by Brunel. This is the hull of the ss Great Britain. She is under cover and you can see the water above the glass to create an effect of the ship floating..

Thank you for sharing this image of the SS Great Britain. I especially like the perspective with the hull of the ship rising above the viewer.


I often wish that our ships (paddlewheel boats and steamships in reality) had been saved but nearly all of them have disappeared when at one time they were the heart and soul of Winnipeg. The first train to run in Western Canada was brought north of the United States on a steamship.

Nice shot John I have never managed to get a good shot of the SS Great Britain from under the waterline but every time we got to see our son who lives & works in Bristol I have another go!
