Ok, I am going to say this in a way that I hope doesn't offend, but the doorway being tilted is a bit distracting to me. I think it would be better it the doorway opening was straightened.
Overall, good exposure even in the shadow areas and good detail, DOF.

I find doorways very difficult to get right. I agree with Vickie. The top is distracting and needs a distortion fix. The two sides are also slanted in and need fixing up as well. I love wide angle lenses and that's one of the few ways to get these shots but the distortion makes for a lot of post processing work.

Using a tripod will help a little in getting a doorway straight. But usually there is still a little post processing work to be done.
This is a good framing shot and well worth a re-visit if possable. If not, keep this in mind when you see another shot like this.

Hello:
I would love to see this composition again in a few more weeks - with wonderful gardens and colors. I think it worth a return visit - with many many possibilities.
Congratulations
Larry

i agree with the points raised ahead however, the distortion can be corrected in Photoshop or Elements by creating a duplicate layer and using the Skew command (my preference) which you'll find under edit>transform>skew, just grab the handles to adjust. That though is a fix for this image and will still leave the church tower close to the top of the gateway. If you were to simply squat down to about waist height not only would the tower be in view but there would be no distortion because the camera would not be tilted up nor down.

Hello Richard, I agree with the comments already made about the angle here and the ideas you have been given are all excellent.. I do have to say though your POV here is very well seen and the idea behind this shot is excellent. The tip of the tower is a tad close to teh top of the gateway but the view is a very pretty one, so all in all a very well seen image just needing a tad more time in the prep to shoot this one.
Thank you for posting
Kind regards Helen

Richard, this is a beautiful shot. The door could be fixed very easily in Photoshop. Have a great weekend, Bill
