bright, vivid colors - the ringflash was a good investment.
DOF is perfect for the shot.

Ansolutely stunning! very neatly composed with an off central postion for the caterpillar, lovely colours and the DOF is just perfect, I have no idea what a ring flash is but I want one if it gives masro results lilke this, so am off to google and learn about them now lol.

Ok, just to be different, I have to say that for me the DOF is too shallow, and I'd like to see more of the caterpillar in focus. The details that are sharp are superb and I love the juxtaposition of colours and shapes.

To Mortcdz, true I would have liked a bit more depth but even at f22 this is all I could manage to be in focus and the little devil kept moving!!
