I have memories as a child of helping my Mother pick her Chrysanthemums and Dahlias (and especially the white ones) to take along to morning church service on Mother’s Day. On the completion of the service every Mother would receive a small bunch of the flowers. The smell was something that will always remind me of my Mother who passed away in 1998.

While many countries of the world celebrate their own Mother's Day at different times throughout the year, there are some countries such as Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia, and Belgium which all celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May.

Cherish your Mother or her memory.

A Mother's love is something
that no on can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking . . .
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation . . .
A many splendoured miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God's tender guiding hand.

This is ever so beautiful and I loved your writing of your childhood memories with your mom. I have ones similar. My mom passed in 96 and I still cherish memories and think of her all the time. She got a vase of fresh tulips Friday at the cemetery as I always do. Superb on this image.

Yes mother's day here as well and lovely weather to go with it, so we could be outside with the family.
This is one fantastic flower, the thin purple lines on the white are just stunning.

Marvelous, David. Not only the amazing image - but - the very thoughtful notes, as well. I hope you have had a great day, my friend.

I really like the angle at which you have captured this beautiful Dhalia and the exposure which has produced such perfect colours. Possibly I would crop tight from the right as the flower faces left but either way this is a superb image.
