A hand held macro taken in the garden of one of my nieces in Western Australia. I have no idea what the insect is but it was about 15mm in length. The small brown object appears to be a baby garden snail which I did not notice before I downloaded the photo.

Hiya David

Wow what an impressive macro this is... superb detail and very good white balance too. it always amazes me how much there is too look at on these tiny creatures which normally we dont even notice. My one very tiny niggle here is that for me its a tad too central... lord I am a fussy mare lol.. overall though a superb shot my friend

kind regards Helen

Hi David,

Excellent macro, best shown on white flower with lots of detail.
Always fun to see even more when looking at your computerscreen.
Can not help you with the name of the insect.

Els

I think this bug thing is becoming contagious. You have done a super job on the details and the white is a perfect background. It is a good thing all the bugs here are frozen or I might be tempted to go try some. Well done my friend of many faces.

Nice shot of the grasshopper - details are sharp and exposure spot on. Hand held macro shots are always difficult to get this sharp.
All the best....Mark

Nice macro, well cropped/framed and stands out good on white flower as platform.
