i tried butterflys today also but i left the setting on landscape so all the images turned out blurry haha! then when i eventually realised and waited 20mins to get a perfect shot a a butterly the battery died!! Typical!
U did a great job getting all the details and a clear sky blue background
really nice image, well done!

Thanks for your nice comments Andy and Emma,
Caught far away from home with a dead battery is something I know only too well Emma!, so I always carry 2 spare batteries around now!(at least) If you use live view you will use a lot more battery power too!regards,Rick.

I've got a feeling this is a Large White (Pieris brassicae) with the black spot you normally see on the fore wing a little less distinct than normal.
Nice sharp details and good control of the exposure - not always easy with a white butterfly in sunshine.
Cheers....Mark

Most gorgeous - the exposure is bursting at the seams with saturation. I love it.

Hi Rick,
A really lovely shot of this butterfly which I also think is a Large white. I've spent some time on the "UK Butterflies" website recently and this image is better than most of theirs. Well done!!
