I went out on a Speckled wood hunt today and ended up being spoilt for choice at the location i chose, there were about 40 of them, the most i've seen in one place!!
This shot was taken hand-held with my Tamron 90mm macro and is full frame.

What wonderful detail and DOF! I'm amazed at how 'furry' it looks, and also like the beautiful fern b/g, which in itself is a very nice capture - since it stands out against it's own blurred b/g. And 40 of them! What kind of place was this??

Beautiful details, not just in the butterfly but in the fern as well. Interesting to see a butterfly I know well (living opposite a wood I see these daily) with what looks like a local colour variant - this seems a lot darker than the ones I see around Norfolk.
Cheers.....Mark

Oh Vic you couldnt have asked for a more beautiful Background I am sure.. The butterfly is so well detailed I can see all the textures on its tiny body and the Fern splayed out behind like this is just perfect.
Thank you for posting
kind regards Helen
