A male Common Hawker, Aeshna juncea (Linnaeus)
Taken using manual focus and this is a crop to 1/2 of full frame.

My appologies for not having been around lately to do many comments, my niece unfortuneately ended up in hostpital with a very badly broken arm (a compound fracture) after taking a fall from a horse at the local riding school. She's now on the mend and is back home after having spent a few days in hostpital. Promise i'll catch up soon Smile
Regards to all,
Vic.

So sorry to hear about your niece but good to hear she is on the mend. I love your capture of this dragonfly. It is a most unusual perspective and top notch photography to catch him in flight with such finite details.

I know a couple of fells who can do this well...one a Romanian and another I sort of forget....but they contested....most were side shots and none were quite like this angle. Pretty tricky craft and takes a bit of patience with just the right gear eh?

Lol..looks like a little bomber! Fantastic flight capture! You're sure broadening my knowledge of what is possible given the right equipment and technique. Very impressive work Vic!

Manual focus eh! I could do that once but not on something like a dragonfly in flight. I have enough trouble with aircraft!
Excellent work Vic. I hope your Niece gets better quick and literally "gets back on the horse".
Vic.

Excellent inflight, love the BG and its graduated color..
Very good details, and the wing forming X works for me Smile
