Sulphur Butterfly inflight from our garden today. Mid-day natural light. F/16, 1/2000th, ISO 1250
I simply used manual focus to the flower, gaining as much DOF as possible. The b-flies visited regularly, so I had multiple tries to get it right.. Smile

Hello Howard.
Lovely colour differences in this good shot.
Not sure if you darkend the picture, think a bit more light had doning well too.
Best regards from Jan

I'm sorry Jan, I honestly don't understand what you are saying?
What is "doning" ??
As far as the light/exposure, I believe it's right where it needs to be..I made no adjustment PP to this image with regards to exposure.
But I thank you for your honest feedback..

The rich velvety reds are a perfect contrast for the bright yellow of the butterfly Excellent sharpness too and that background is superb. Re Jan's comment. English is not Jan's first language and now and then his comments don't come over quite as he intended but I believe his comment above to be a favourable one.

Howard, this is a superb and perfectly done macro in every respect. The exposure looks dead on to me and that wonderful background serves to enhance both the flower and the butterfly.

What a perfectly delightful and unique butterfly pic! Delightful because of the wonderfully complementary colors (f/g and b/g), and unique in the stop-action down-swoop of those wings. Wow.. you certainly are an inspiration!
