Summer memories - sharing the bounty.

So sorry I am late in posting for the theme this week peeps..as ever there are just not enough hours in the day and the one thing that gets left out right now is my photography Sad

This shot really does bring back summer memories for me as I visited an elderly friend who lives accross the road from me and took a good few pictures for her in her back garden that she spends hours tending.

It amazes me how many different insects feed from the same flowers and here is a prime example with a fly and a hover fly (so sorry I don't know their correct names).

Many thanks for taking time to view and visit and sorry I stuffed up the depth on here a tad as I know its a little distracting the centre of the flower being blurred... hey ho maybe next summer I can get it right Smile

regards Helen

I think Macros are the biggest challenge in photography. You are well on your way to getting it all in perfect focus. I love the golden hover fly - kind of gives the feeling of "Kin Midas and his Golden Touch"...but when will he touch the little fly on the right and turn him golden too?

Oh, but you caught some pretty fine detail in those flies! I don't even find the shallow dof distracting - just interesting, as it divides our attention to the dual subjects. Good one for the theme Helen. Hope your work load eases up!!

Helen, Hi:

Splendid for the theme and for me the best part is spending time with friends (esp older friends - who enjoy the visits even more than we know). Marvelous capture of these insects and I look forward to seeing more images from, with I believe, is a beautiful Garden.

Wonderful work, my friend, and excellent addition to your gallery.

Thanks

I couldn't agree more with Pat on the DOF and the details in the flies is exquisite. A marvelous macro.

For me the DOF works as it focuses attention on the flies and not on the flower - putting the attention where it should be. Excellent details in the eyes and good steady hands to get the sharpness on things which don't stay still for long.

Actually this has good DoF. It is the size and shape of the flower (Thistle or Alium?), which gives a problem. In fact you got superb focus especially considering you had the dome of the flower in the center to contend with. Excellent sharpness, colour and exposure.

Hi Helen. An excellent macro shot-nice and sharp. Hope things are improving in the old country with the snow etc.
Down under we are having floods and bush fires all over the place.
Warm regards,
