....The Majestic Rocky Mountains - 5.....In The Distance.... two things....The Canadian Rockies of Alberta, Canada and Summer (after another 10" of snow this last week) summer seems a distant memory.

This image taken above 8000 feet NW of Denver, Colorado, this last summer, looking North towards Canada.

I will be taking a break until late January or early February of 2010. Our youngest son and daughter-in-law will be arriving next week. A much needed break for him from the City and a great gift for his mother for Christmas. My Cindy - misses our son's so much and both are very far away. I will be getting the tractor and chain saw ready for his return, as cutting, hauling and splitting wood is one of his favorite winter chores when home. We will also attend a Christmas Concert in Omaha, Nebraska - a Christmas tradition for Cindy and I. This year the 4 of us will go spending some time there and enjoying our favorite restaurants, indoor gardens and some shopping.

Cindy and I wish, everyone one of you and your families, a most wonderful of Holidays.

Thanks, also, to everyone for all of the support you have given my work this past year and for all of the learning tips I have received. I really appreciate each and everyone.

hello larry,
I love the many layers of landscape leading up to that moody sky. In my younger days I spent many days hiking in Colorado. Thanks for the nostalgic memories. Joni

I hope you enjoy a most wonderful reunion and time with your family over the Christmas Holidays Larry. We'll miss you here on PC, but appreciate someone who has their priorites straight! :-)
Re the post - perfect for today's theme, as you can indeed see forever. Especially like that lip of land in the foreground, which helps to give scale to the rest of the picture. Well done!

I echo Pats sentiments regarding priorities .. A very nice capture that suits the theme perfectly Larry.Looks like the Badlands from here, the layered blue mountains and angry sky form a superb backdrop. Catch you in the new year .. Have a good Christmas and a healthy New Year mate.

It's so similar to much of our Spanish landscape....but we don't get all that snow!

I hope that you and Cindy have some quality time and a wonderful Christmas with your family, it's what Christmas should be all about!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

Meg. xx

This is not the first of your photos which I have commented upon the differing layers Larry. The last one was mainly blues but this goes from brown to green to that final layer of blues. The Rockies are far taller than anything downunder and look spectacular,
A safe, happy and blessed Christmas to you and yours,
David

Dark skies and subdued colors produce a foreboding atmosphere..
The majestic rugged terrain has a beauty & grandeur all its own, unmistakable.
No hint of mans presence anywhere, this has an ageless, immutable look.
Well done Smile
