Great photograph of the de-icing process. I've only been able to take pictures of this process from above through the windows of the observation deck at our airport. Being on the aeroplane really brings the process right into the lap of the viewer with the ghostly plane on the left adding to the visual impact of the picture, for me.

Outstanding capture. It brings back vivid memories of when we were sitting in a plane on the runway waiting to taxi out and take off. It was snowing and they came out and did this deicing to our plane. But then we sat there for what seemed like forever before we took off. I was worried the deicing wouldn't be as effective after the long wait. Your exposure is perfect to emphasize the low visibility and hazardous conditions.

Thanks Jan and Diane.
Nowadays at Amsterdam Airport, there is a separated area for De-icing the planes.
Du to the chemicals they used, it has to be recycled, so floordrains are installed there.
My first international flight, to Saudi Arabia, it was the first of December 1973, started also with De-icing the plane, but that was done before it moved from the pier.
Best wishes from Jan

Oh well, third time lucky.... sigh! (i keep getting logged out)
Hi Jan,
Well done for getting this shot! Perculiar looking machines those de-icers, they look like something out of "war of the worlds" lol. Hope you have a good New year and that things thaw out enough for flights to get going again!
Regards
Vic.

Hi Jan,
I've watched this operation many times but never thought to take a photo of it. Good idea and well done. Seems the machines are crawling out to attack the aircraft, which in a sense, I guess they are.
The light, the spray on the window and the fog outside really sets an interesting mood here.
Good job,
Thanks,
Wilt

You know I`m a great fan of your pics. (Windmill) but this pic. "Deicing" is different and interesting. Good work Jan.....Charlie
