A calming feel is evoked by the setting with the opening in the fencing working to lead the eyes of the viewer through on to the expanse of the beach and the spread of the ocean. The cloud formation helps to enhance the visual impact of the picture in my mind.

Perhaps a little short on midtone in the sand and right-side sky but then you may well have intended the high key look. I feel the gap in the fence is a little central and that cropping from the right would place the long grasses at either side border and serve to hold the viewer's attention within the frame.

I kind of like the starkness of it all, the way you presented it, but I also agree that a bit of off center framing and composition would make it even better and more evocative.
Good job though, nice mood set.

Good b/w, a little front on for me but that may have been you intention, a more extreme angle vantage point may be interesting also.
