Striking panoramic view of the Thames and the city of London. I had a similar experience when I went to Vancouver, B.C. as a tourist for the first time after living there for nearly twenty years... I just had to leave since the place frightened me... later trips as a tourist were much better but I was surprised by how I felt on the first time I returned to Vancouver and walked the streets where I had grown up. What is the structure on the right edge with the golden bird is it on top?

Hi Jan. That is a memorial to the men and women of the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Air Force and it stands facing the Air ministry on the opposite side of the road.

Excellent composition and panoramic presentation Vic. Good perspective that shows an interesting contrast between the older buildings and the modern structures downstream. (But I can understand why you prefer the countryside.)

Hi Vic. Mrs Peejay and I were there yesterday. I work in London (edge of the City, near The Tower) and love all the places of interest. I just hate the commute and the Underground (which I only ever use when I'm being a "tourist")...!!
Great image. The pano format works exceptionally well for this scene. From Hungerford Bridge? The boats he;p fill and add interest to the foreground and the "flat" sky helps give a more even exposure.
Regards, Paul.

Hello Vic
Well I was born half an hour away and I rarely visited the city. I have to say this is without a doubt one of the best panoramic shots I have seen of this particulr view. You have balanced it perfectly to add in so much of the architecture and your colours and details are perfect. A fab shot and indeed I think I shall have to visit the big smoke sometime this year with camera in hand as I have no doubt it has changed greatly in the 20 years since i last visited
Thank you for posting
kind regards Helen

Three fine buildings and water images. This would have to be my favorite because through my years of business travel I always considered London as my second home. This makes me realize how much I miss it.

Well Vic, i have to confess that London is a city i avoid visiting if at all possible, i haven't been there since 1993!!! I just can't seem to drag myself away from the countryside .
I like the letterbox crop you've used here, it suits the subject perfectly. Nice and crisp looking too, you had good light for this shot!
Regards
Vic.

An excellent crop Vic and most impressive detail in both large and small versions. The colours are perfect as is the POV.
I much prefer the country but this city I live in is more like a large country town,
Dave
