Paul, Hi:
Splendid image of detail and warm colors. Thanks for the very educational notes, also.
Well Done

I like the contrast between the toning of the sky and that of the rock formation (helps to make the rocks stand out strongly in the image) and I appreciate your detailed comments on the image (really serves to flesh out the picture). Did you manage to get any closeups shots of the rock formation on the right?

Looks like a place where the old westerns were shot, lovely colours and the low horizon and sky helps the viewer to see the vastness of the place. What ever happened to all those Western films and TV series ?

Hello Paul
A very well positioned shot here both from a lighting and a viewing POV. Lovely colours and I really do like the rock formations on the right the textural detail is stunning.
Thank you so much for adding the wiki detail it really does make interesting reading and adds to the image nicely.

I love it too.. And I really like your take on Capital Reef. I think your POV not only gives us a good look at the more prominent rock formation, but also shows the 'wide open nature' of the surrounding landscape. (Also that sky is grand and fits with the comp so well.) And the colours are spot-on! Great job Paul.

I'm sitting here waiting for one of my boyhood cowboy heroes to riding around the butte either chasing or being chased by guys in black hats. The state of Utah seems to have a very varied landscape so my pioneer ancestors of the early-mid 1800s (Mormons) made a good choice in settling there.
Nice work Paul.

The colours and starkness vert reminiscent of some parts of Western and Central Australia Paul. A wonderful composition in which the sky plays a major part,

The LP looks fab, excellent color sat, detail, exposure, and DOF Paul.
All ya need is a cowboy ridin' through, with a lasso to the sky

Very nice capture of the beauty of the high desert. I was in Southern Utah from mid-March to mid-April and agree with your assessment of this area. The scenery is beautiful, the weather is pleasant and the people are warm and friendly.
