Those snow flakes flashing and falling across the coat of the horse create a sense of real cold. The contrast between the darkened form of the horse and the muted nature of the snowy landscape serves to make the poor creature stand out strongly in the image.

I really like this! There's a certain look of resignation in his face that we can all relate to. You've captured the falling snow, while still maintaining good details and coulors. And the horse stands out so well against the light b/g. Nicely done!

A good idea to use fill flash here as it has frozen some snow in place while also allowing it streak and to enhance the windy nature of the weather.
As it is tethered I guess this is a traveller's horse. Some travellers look after their animals well but so many simply stake them out and forget them for days on end.

Hi Vic, you are right they are travellers horses and often they arn't looked after well. It would not be the first time I have called the police and RSPCA about their conditions.
Best wishes

As Pat said, there seems to be a look of resignation but also of dignity. One really feels for such creatures in a winter such as this.

What a beauty here. I'd love to see this with the chain cloned out.

I do feel so sorry for the animals out in the elements in this inclement weather. This shot is a real stunner as the horse stands out so well against the wintry landscape.

I really like the way you've composed this with this beautiful horse braving the elements. the snow streaking across his head and mane provides a wonderful contrast. I also like the lead chain included as it provides a feeling for the hadship this horse is having to endure being left out in the elements.

A very well executed capture, you have caught the snow yet not any lost detail of the horse at all, very hard to do in these conditions .. superb work
