Hello Vernon
When I saw the ground squirrel I just knew the photographer was from SA. Not realising that we even live in the same city! Welcome! A lovely composition with great detail and that special pose. Nicely done!

Hi Vernon
He is indeed a handsome little chap and the eye contact is good and sharp here, I think maybe a little less centralised and without the loss of the end of the wiskars the shot might have been a tad better. The texture and detail in the fur is wonderful and the lighting excellent though
kind regards Helen

Love the pose and detail. If this was shot in RAW might it be possible to get some of the eye detail out if there is any in there?

Hi Vernon,
Very first thing I have to do is congratulate you on being a proud grandfather! Hope she lives close by so that you can enjoy her growing up as much as I do with my grandchildren.
Second thing is to say that it is fun to see you here - welkom!
.
This ground squirrel is a lovely little animal, I don't mind the whiskers being cropped, but I think the picture would improve when you would apply a gamma correction upwards (that's the term used in my program PhotoFiltre) on the eye. In order to do that I simply copy the image, make it lighter until the eye details are more visible, paste it next to the original and with the clonestamp I paint over the darker eye.
Hartelijke groet
Els
