Out walking on Sunday in the Yorkshire Dales - this is Grimwith reservoir. It was so cold up there and it was frozen over. We had piercing blue sky all day.
Thanks for those that leave feedback and advice on how to improve my photography.
Paula

I have redone this photo and added the crop that Jan suggested - I agree it looks much better cropped down. Thanks for the tip Jan. Paula

A lonely feel to the setting with the lone building gracing the expanse of water and landscape. If one has to have cold in a setting I much prefer cold with sunlight as opposed to cold and overcast... one just never knows what the quality of the light will bring out in the setting. I find myself wanting to crop down to just above the distant clouds... that cropping just seems to give more presence to the shoreline leading the eyes of the viewer through the setting.

The enlarged image especially is just stunning! Great perspective, wonderful textural details (even in deep shadows) and gorgeous colour. Composition is perfect to me. Impressive work!

A bleak looking place well recorded, great colour in the sky, I am left wanting to see more of the left side of the shot...would it make a good panorama? If it would it would give even more a feel of isolation. On the larger picture there is a vapour trail in the sky that could be cloned out easily if you had time.
But having said all that its a good picture an makes me want to be there.
best wishes
Rob

I very much like the composition and crop, Paula, and the brilliant blue of the sky. I feel like you've placed me right in the scene.

The smaller shot is perfect Paula .. lovely composition, great colours .. one can feel the chill in the air.The larger one does not appear to be of the same quality, I am guessing here but it seems as though it has been up-sized from a smaller shot.

This is picture perfect! What a beautiful spot, your composition is very nice.It does look very cold, but you have such a nice blue sky with those clouds that give this a balanced feeling.
