I love the mist and how precise you have perfectly exposed this capture. Only helpful suggestion I can offer is if you had positioned yourself a little more to the left to move the stump off center and provide a view of the diagonal path leading into this scene. A very adventurous capture that oozes stories as you look at it.

Paula, Hi:
I do very much like the atmaosphere you have composed here. I also like the effect the fog has given to the colors of the undergrowth. The path leads us right into the image and the atmosphere.
Very Nicely Done

Very pleasing to the eye. The fog works its magic even as the sun attempts to break through. Nicely done!

I like Diane's suggestion about the move to the left to bring more presence to the pathway. The fog really serves to bring a moody feel to the setting and one wants that pathway to have more presence to lead the eyes of the viewer deeper into the image and perhaps to heighten the sense of anticipation in the mind of the viewer.

I was immediately drawn to the thumbnail and wasn't disappointed at all. The central stump doesn't bother me at all. The path is clear enough in the large view of the shot. The stump and trees on the left make a nice gateway for me, leading me into the scene. Guidelines always say move features to the golden section, but I like this one the way it is and think losing those trees on the left would hurt the scene.

Very moody, and I like how the fog and light play on the dark trees and ground colors. I think I like the composition as is.. Well done!

The only thing I see with moving a bit left is that the sun would have been looking more right into your lens, and maybe contributing flare and whatever else, and that would have certainly ruined the very ethereal mood here.
The whole off center thing is right, I miss that too sometimes, but here, not so much and, maybe, a slight move to the right to put the stump off center.
Whatever...the is a beautiful image and well composed and presented. ;-)
Thanks,
Wilt

Hi Paula, whne shooting in fog you have to go with the available light so I think your positioning is nigh on perfect. Good colours and a lovely moody feel,
David
PS why leave the DSLR at home?

I'm glad you didn't overdo the contrast. The atmosphere here is excellent.
I agree that the placement of the stump is rather central but who'd have thought that a short stump amongst all those trees would attract attention.
