I was taking pictures of the dog sled races a couple of weeks ago and I thought I would post a picture from not this recent dog sled but one
which took place on February 4, 2007. The 2007 sled dog races involved more dogs on each team (more change for action) and those dog sled races were going north to south along the Red River and allowed for a better view of both dogs and driver.

This picture may be a little soft but on that particular day the air temperature was -37C with a windchill of -48C and it was a chore just to
hold the camera never mind having everything in focus. In fact it became so cold later in the day that the second part of the race had to be
canceled with the windchill dropping below -50C.

In CS2 I used the shadow/highlight function (35,0,0) and I desaturated the red to -30.

Jan, I really like this shot. It is very dramatic and shows a lot of action. You did a great job capturing it. Have a great weekend, Bill

Great job on stop action, yet provided the viewing to "feel" the action. You framed it well!

Thanks for looking at my baby elephant Jan. Yes indeed may he live a long life! As to your pic. They`re Off, it couldn`t be better! The lead dog is in focus and yes everything behind starts going softer but surely this adds to the movement. great pic. Larry......Charlie.

From a comment I read on the other photo site I post to. "A tribute to the 100 or more Siberian Huskies brutally and inhumanely slaughtered by ignorant people in April 2010 after the 2010 Canadian Olympics."

Great shot and title. The dogs look really well and eager, does not look as sharp as I would like it to be though.
