GREAT stop action photo here. I love the intense look of concentration of the dogs. They mean business!! I really like the compo and presentation. I give you a lot of credit for being out there when it was so.....cold. I once went skiing at -36C and that was no fun. Joni

Hi Jan.
I like this a lot. the dog on the left (as we look at it) seems less joyful and more determined than the others - maybe that's the lead dog?
This does sharpen - partly by dropping the midtones a little and use of the high pass filter. However, although this has the effect of making the lead dogs appear to leap out of the picture it also removes some of the atmosphere induced by the steamy breath of the dogs which is slightly lost with added contrast. So, not better but different.
Vic.

There is definitely something about this image and the presentation of it; accidental, due to conditions, or not it's a very good and tension charged stop action shot.
Well done, especially given the conditions.
Thanks,
Wilt

I love the look of total exertion on the dog in the front - he is giving it all he's got. I also like the foggy mist of the white dog in the rear, underscoring the frigid temperatures. You wouldn't get me outside in those temps - NO WAY. But so glad you braved the cold to grab this. It's a winner in my book.

Great action shot with excellent dof, accenting the action of the front dogs. Agree with Vic re the midtones. You're certainly dedicated to brave that kind of cold. Well done!

I really like this Jan - really good action shot. I think I would have been curled up near a fire in those temps rather than out taking photos. I like the asmosphere of the picture I think it shows how cold it actually was.
Thanks
Paula

Excellent lens work in capturing this shot, Jan. Love the close framing and you have muted the colors in bg really well.
Thanks for sharing and best regards,
Jusni

Well first of all, it doesnt look soft to me I think the depth is just perfect, the lead dog is sharp and jumping straight out of the picture, the bg dogs are a tad softer yes but to me this adds to the feeling of action and movement,
Absolutely perfect placement for this shot wonderful work and great notes too.
Thank you for posting
kind regards Helen

Way colder than anything I have experienced Jan, -12c that was. A creditable capture with good detail and colour,
David
PS I had another look at my Valentines Day rose, what seemed like ragged edges was in fact a darker colour which has now folded out.
