The lightness of the clouds work well against the darker nature of the Roaches (just curious but what does the name Roaches mean?).

I'm with Jan on this too... Why the name roaches? I love the gentle golden hues of the sun and how the basket silhouette stands out against it. Glad you're back.

The word Roaches like many of our old place names is derived from those used by invaders and settlers from abroad - in this case a corruption of the French word roches - meaning rocks. The history of our 2 countries is mixed with the Normans of Normandy (at the time actually part of Germany), invading England in 1066 and English Kings during the middle ages being in control of much of France.

That's some sky and quite a scape below. I think I could do with a little less foreground. The smoothness and clarity of that sky... oh my!

Spectacular sky with beautiful golden colours that contrast so well with the cold, craggy roaches below. The fire beacon adds a strong focal point. Beautiful landscape Vic.

Good composition; the simple foreground draws the eye into the increasing complexity of the mid range and then on to that amazing sky.
Great capture, well done.
Thanks,
Wilt

You really captured the warm tones of the beautiful sky against the rather cold and forbidding Roaches. Very nice contrast. Nicely done. Joni

Beautiful colours in the sky Vic which contrast well with the dismal looking landscape,

OOO beautiful here, so well positioned perfectly balances and superb colours. I love these old beacons I got a shot of the one at skegness, yes I knwo not the most beautiful of places but the beacon on the beach there was quite fetching.
Did you know these were built to light and warn of an attack from the Spanish Armada? They were supposedly seen one to the other around the country.
Thank you for posting
kind regards Helen
