What a striking looking bird with that red and blue plumage... I find myself wanting to go with a tighter cropping to give the bird more presence in the picture. The contrast between that bird and the muted nature of the background helps to make the kingfisher stand out strongly in the image. Hard to understand why this is called a white breasted kingfisher... red topped kingfisher or blue feathered kingfisher yes but white??

Very different from the Kingfishers here. Good colors and details, and stands out well against the blurred b/g. I think the foliage adds nicely to the composition, but I suppose the image could be cropped slightly from the top, and a bit more on the left. Nice shot!

Love the brilliant colors of this kingfisher. Agree with Pat about cropping from the left which would center more attention on this beautiful bird. Definitely a show stopper capture.

My first thoughts too were, why does a bird with such prominently coloured wings, back, head and beak become named for a small patch of white on its chest! A stunning looking bird and a good capture of it.
