I think this is Pescadero lighthouse---but I could be wrong---north of Santa Cruz------the wind was so fierce it was hard to hold the camera steady---the clouds in the sky really helped with exposure--we had seen a lot of blue sky which isn't that great for photography----hoped that I was able to capture the feel of the waves carshing ashore---lynne

A magnificent capture of this lighthouse - you have composed all the elements of just what a lighthouse is all about. Love the white foamy waves crashing on the rocks just below the lighthouse. EXCELLENT.

Helo Lynn.
I think, you did smoothing the picture, to remove some noise?
Now it lost some sharpness.
The central place of the lighthouse is not the best position, but rules are to be broken, right ?

A striking photograph of the lighthouse with the lighthouse being complemented by the crashing surf and the cloudy sky. The line of the shoreline works well, for me, to lead my eyes through to the lighthouse.

Hi Jan---you are absolutely right---I did have noise in this image and have maybe over smoothed it--I will try it again to keep that sharpness intact---lynne

Really nice image and I love the water and the colors. The fact that the lighthouse is in the middle of the picture bothers me. I think I would crop from the left side to correct this.

You've captured the wildness of the sea well but I agree with Anne that to place the lighthouse well you would have to lose some of those attractive rocks. There are several areas of strange looking blurring in the sea, sky and part of the cliff face. Would that be the topaz filter you used in the lone tree pic?

Fantastic image. Personally I think the overall composition is strong enough to compensate for the lighthouse being near center. As for the blurring - I love it. I did notice it, but thought it gave a strong 'painterly feel' to the image - as did the slightly muted colors. And you did capture the waves beautifully. Well done!
