Exceptional. This capture with the simplistic inclusion of only the lone tree with tack sharp details is absolutely exquisite.

Hi again Lynne.
I find the colour in this just very slightly surreal and very attractive.
The title (I'm being pedantic maybe - after all, what's in a title.) does not really suit this since it is only a "lone" tree because you've cropped out its surroundings - that's as far as the viewer/judge is concerned. As it is - the tree could have a rain forest on either side just out of shot. If you want to illustrate the loneliness you need to show more of the empty surroundings with the tree well placed for composition. You have some over-sharpening halos in the tree and I'm wondering if this is due to the topaz filter or maybe your method of using it. I don't use it myself but if you have to make a selection prior to using the filter, may I suggest you enter a feather of 1-2 pixels so it doesn't touch the tree and thus necessitate the use of over-sharpening. Better still - make a selection of the sky (shift-click the magic wand will do), enter a small feather and apply noise reduction in PS or Elements. I intended to write this in an email this AM but I got sidetracked. If you fancy sending me this and the lighthouse (large file copies of the original) I'll have a look and send you more precise info. I'm sure you still have my email addy.
Vic.

For some reason, the tree seems animated to me, looks like he/she--don't know what a tree is--is throwing it's arms(limbs) around in some sort of anxious emotion. Maybe because it seems all other have left, maybe it's the interesting tones you've gotten here, or maybe I'm a little crazy today. ;o)
Regardless, I like it. I think I'd like it even better with a rotated counter clockwise POV and the tree a bit more left, but that's just a thought.
I still like this a lot.
Thanks,
Wilt

Really like the subject, and your hues.. In this one, I guess I'd prefer the tree a little off center, perhaps as Wilt suggested.
