These are the steps that the cowboys would climb in the Birdcage theater to visit the Dance Hall Girls and get their "knitting lessons". They must have had lots of lessons as the steps were worn paper thin.

Interesting subject matter for the Sunday theme with the steps working to lead the eyes of the viewer up to the doorway for the "knitting lessons". The colorful areas on the right and left serve as natural frames for the steps.

.... and then back down to the salon to discuss with their cowhand friends the sweet little bed jackets they'd just knitted.
Worn steps? Well that's what happens if you keep dropping stitches. Oh no! Not another knitting lesson!

Hello Diane.
Lovely 'old story' picture which tells it al with your note.
I do like the story and this picture. Well done.

Diane,
Beside the interesting story, the stairs, all the worn and torn walls in contrast to the elebrate handings makes this a real treasure. YOu don't know the meaning of the "Stop" sign do you? You have a winner for all occassions.

What great colors and textures Diane. And the 'stop' made me laugh even before I read your notes and realized that probably the local women's club felt it was their duty.. Really nice image with almost a painterly look to it.
