The contrast between the bird and the muted background helps to make the little bird stand out strongly in the image while the catchlight in the eyes, the coloring and the pose (there is a determined feel to the bird) all make for a striking bird study.

Great details on this close-up shot. The head-on view is excellent, i love the direct look and to have a catchlight in both eyes too, well done!!
