The clarity of detail, the contrast between the nut hatch and the muted background and the catchlight in the eye work together to create a striking bird study.

Well now I like this one very much.Last summer I spent an hour with one of these little devils(never did get a good shot) .Just an evasive little bird..you have done real well here.This is a great photograph

Spectacular pose - especially love how you caught this guy with a mouthfull. Excellent DOF - the Bokeh doesn't get any better than this.

This is an awesome shot Vic - How you get these shots so sharp is beyond me. As Diane said the Bokeh is just fab.

An superb capture of the nuthatch in typical pose. Excellent detail and exposure with wonderfully subtle colours. Others have mentioned the excellent bokeh and mostly it is but it drew my attention to the more defined diagonal rectangular oof area near top left which could perhaps be reduced by blurring.
