I was doing one of my strolls after spending 3 fruitless hours waiting in a hide for this chap to show up at the flood pool. He was near by all along and not far from where i had set up, typical Smile i managed to get a few shots off as he took to the air having seen me before i saw him, also typical Smile
These birds look absolutely stunning while they are hunting on the ground but look somewhat ungainly in the air with their bright yellow feet sticking out the rear.
Because he was so close and because i was using the central focus point, i only just got his feet in the frame as i focused on his head so i had to clone in a bit of extra sky behind the feet. Lucky it was a blue sky day!! Smile

The egret stands out quite strongly in the image set against the blue sky. I had never really thought about the nature of their feet until you mentioned it in your comment but now that you mention it their feet do look rather ungainly in flight in comparison to the graceful nature of their wings and the flow of their body.

Nice timing Vic and convincing cloning. I find the herons and cranes, once elevation is gained, quite tidy fliers,

Excellent capture Vic. Isn't it great that we are seeing more and more of these birds both as summer visitors and even overwintering in a few places in the south.

Great shot, very sharp, cloning doesn't notice at all, good work. Brilliant. (Could possibly use a simple frame to make it more prominent against the sites black background?, but that doesn't effect the picture at all) Not seen one of these in the wild yet, will keep an eye out round my pond......Thanks

Tack sharp details on this stop action flight of the egret. And your exposure on his pure white feathers....pristine and perfect.

You are quick on the trigger, Vic. The detail under to bottom wing with shadows and well defined feathers is outstanding. Very well done, Vic.
